Posted on January 22, 2011

The Art Corner is looking for work that reflects Theories of The Grotesque for an exhibition opening on the 21st of February2011.

The Grotesque in art reflects conflicts with the world as defined by our cultural norms, sending our perceptions of our moral, religious, social or natural world askew.

Wolfgang Kayser suggest that in order for an artwork to be truly grotesque it is through its reception wherein the viewer will be left with contrasting feelings, that of desire and repulsion, beauty and monstrosity or horror and humor.

Please send up to 5 jpegs of the work you wish to submit with an accompanying artist statement to

Due to the short deadline we will only be accepting work that has been completed.

Deadline for submissions is the 6th of Februay 2011
